Wouldn't it be neat if we could get kids as well as adults excited about the bible hero's? I think that is my plan next year. I want my three kids to get excited about an apostle they relate to or possibly a great women of the Old Testament. Originally All Hallows Eve, was intended for that very purpose. To commemorate the dead. The early christian church would pay homage to the Saints and amazing men and women of Christianity. Who is to say we can't do that today?
Growing up, Halloween was my most favorite holiday. Now that I am older I see that it isn't innocent at all. When your a kid though, its a night of tons of free candy, playing dress up and going house to house knocking on doors and being greeted with eager couples enjoying the uniqueness of every little boy and girls costume.
Sadly, we come to an age were innocence is gone, and we see Halloween for what it is, an excuse to be bad. Its a huge market driven, money making farce of what the beginning Christian church had intended it to be, nothing at all like All Hal low's eve. Christians today can change that, Often times in the bible God took something that was bad and turned it around to make something good of it. We can put on our bible hero's costume, learn about the martyrs, the great apostles and of course the most important Jesus. We can proclaim the Good News, instead of tricks. We can hand out our knowledge of Gods grace and love as treats.
